July 07, 2010 | 12:25 PM Sen. Eric Schneiderman in New York City this morning received an endorsement from NARAL Pro-Choice New York.
Schneiderman is one of five Democrats running for attorney general this fall.
"Eric has been a vocal and absolute advocate for women's reproductive health and rights," said Kelli Conlin, president of NARAL Pro-Choice New York in a press release.
"They are a leading reproductive choice agency in New York," said James Freedland, a Schneiderman campaign spokesman. "This is a very big development in the race."
Schneiderman has been a long-term proponent for women's rights and of the pro-choice movement.
In January 2009, Schneiderman was awarded the Margret Sanger Award by the Family Planning Advocates of New York state. The award is given to legislators who "have made significant contributions to family planning policy," said the FPA's Web site.
According to its Web site, NARAL "works to protect safe, legal abortion and expand the full range of reproductive rights for women regardless of age, race or income." Barry J. Wygel
